KESLA HydraX™ with PPO® ForExt for wildland fires

KESLA launched a significant new product at the Finnish FinnMetko event 3.-5.9.2024; a versatile forest trailer suitable for wildfire management, compatible with our PPO® ForExt firefighting agent.

Wildfires are becoming more common globally and are increasingly challenging to control. Water alone is not always sufficient to extinguish fires. A new approach is controlled firebreaks, where the KESLA HydraX™ trailer and PPO® ForExt forest fire extinguishing agent work together to effectively prevent the spread of fire. The treated zone stops the fire from advancing both on the surface and underground.

KESLA HydraX™ + PPO® ForExt = Firestop in forest

The KESLA HydraX™ operates in the most challenging terrains. A powerful jet stream can wet the ground with firefighting fluid up to a distance of over 50 meters and reach a tree height of 30-40 meters. The fluorine- and halogen-free PPO® ForExt is mixed with water at a ratio of 1:100. The firefighting fluid tank is integrated into HydraX’s water system, ensuring the correct mixture ratio is automatically maintained.

PPO® ForExt was tested in actual conditions during the post-fire operations of the Kalajoki forest fire in 2021, where it proved its effectiveness − the treated areas did not reignite.
